Berk Birand awarded a Ph.D.

image001Berk Birand received his Ph.D. after successfully defending his thesis titled “Cross-layer resource allocation algorithms in wireless and optical networks”.

While studying towards the Ph.D., Berk received the IBM Ph.D. Fellowship, the Best Theory Session Talk award in the ACM S3 2010 workshop, and the Millman Award for Outstanding Teaching Assistant from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Columbia. Berk authored several papers on wireless and optical networks and was a very active member of the NSF CIAN Engineering Research Center (ERC). Berk was the TPC co-chair of the ACM S3 2011 workshop.
