Jelena Marasevic, a Ph.D. student in the WiMNet lab, received the “Yodel Your Thoughts” scholarship from Yahoo! for her winning essay on the role of female leaders in technology. Her essay discussed possible reasons for the low representation of women in the STEM (Science, Technology, Mathematics and Engineering) areas. Moreover, it discussed the differences between female and male leaders in technology and how these differences can be treated as an advantage.
Jelena received her Bachelor’s degree from the School of Electrical Engineering in the University of Belgrade in 2011. She is currently studying towards the Ph.D. degree at the Department of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University.
